Allison Marshall, Violin
Allison Marshall has been involved in music since she was a very young child. She began taking piano lessons at the age of 5, violin lessons at the age of 9, and has experience on the flute, French horn, viola, and cello. Ultimately, the violin is the instrument that she loved the most, choose to study extensively, and the one on which she has built her career.
Her education includes graduating high school from Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance from the University of North Florida, and music education studies at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee.
During high school and college, Allison participated in a number of extra-curricular music activities which furthered her desire to commit her life to music. From theater orchestra performances of Fiddler on the Roof, She Loves Me, and Little Shop of Horrors to summer music programs at Florida State University and North Carolina School of the Arts. She was a member of the Jacksonville Symphony Youth Orchestra during its very first year and performed as many gigs as possible. Her involvement in all things music was her number one goal.
Over the course of her professional career, Allison has performed as an orchestra member, chamber musician, studio musician, and soloist in a variety of groups and genres. Her broad spectrum of experiences includes performing with the Jacksonville University Orchestra, the Larsen String Quartet, with national recording artists both on stage and in the studio, and as the owner of her music business, String Theory Music.
In addition to her performance accolades, Allison has been teaching private violin lessons from her home studio and privately owned studios for the past 20 years. She believes in personalizing a program of study for each student based on their age, experience, musical goals, learning pace and style, and how much time they put into learning their instrument outside of the lesson time. A Suzuki trained violinist herself, she uses the Suzuki method as a foundation for all studies and supplements various forms of traditional methodology into her teaching.
“Music is my passion in life and sharing my gift with others is what I love to do. I teach my students more than just how to play the violin. I teach my students how to develop the same passion that I have so that they, too, can experience the joy of making music in any artistic direction their hearts desire.”
