Megan Hines - Voice & Piano
Megan Hines is a senior currently pursuing her Bachelor’s of Music Education with a certificate in Choral Conducting at the University of North Florida. During her time at UNF, Megan has served as Undergraduate Assistant Conductor, teaching vocal pedagogy and musicianship to students from the middle school through the collegiate level. She has also spent significant time working in music classes throughout Duval and St. Johns county. Music has always been a huge part of Megan’s life, as she began taking piano lessons when she was seven years old and voice lessons when she was eleven years old, specializing in classical voice and musical theatre.
Throughout her vocal career, Megan has won several awards, including 1st place in the classical voice category at the 2013 and 2014 regional competition for the National Association of Teachers of Singing and first place in the Concert on the Green Scholarship Competition, in which she had the opportunity to perform as a soloist with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed in roles in several musicals including Lorraine in All Shook Up, Minnie Fay in Hello, Dolly!, and Tracy in Hairspray.
She is an active member of the Florida Music Educator’s Association and the American Choral Director’s Association, in which she serves as the president of her university’s chapter. Megan believes that while students should always be forced on bettering themselves as musicians, the most important part of music lessons is developing a passion and love for the joy that music brings on a daily basis.
