Rachael Rubright - Vocal
Rachael Rubright is currently a student at the University of North Florida, majoring in Vocal Performance, with an emphasis in classical voice. She’s been singing her whole life and has performed extensively throughout the Jacksonville area. Some of her musical achievements include 2nd place in her category at the National Association of Teacher’s of Singing competition, South Florida chapter; first round winner of the Classical Singer Competition at the University of Miami; and she has been hired as the wedding singer for the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, a historic church in downtown Jacksonville.
Always curious about how the body and singing voice function, Rachael will be pursuing a Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology upon graduation. Her goal is to become a voice scientist, specializing in the singing voice. She will be continuing to perform, however, while working towards this career, experimenting with new techniques and ideas on herself in order to share her knowledge with others.
Rachael is very much looking forward to teaching, realizing that she will learn just as much from her students, if not more, as her students will learn from her. Though she is a trained classical singer, this training does not limit her abilities or her curiosity to study and perform other genres. She is more than willing to work with whatever genre the student most enjoys!
Rachael’s teaching method is founded on the principle of observance – one of the most important aspects of singing is the relationship between the body and the voice. Rachael intends to help every student learn how to “feel” how he or she is singing, so that, through natural and nonjudgmental practice, they may discover, rather than force, their own abilities and allow their voice to develop as naturally and in its own unique way.
