STUDIO POLICY FOR THE JACKSONVILLE SCHOOL OF MUSIC
Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome to the Jacksonville School of the Arts! We’re so glad you’ve joined our musical family. Our goal is to provide each student with the highest quality music education in a warm, encouraging, and professional environment. These studio policies help us ensure a smooth, positive experience for everyone.
General Information
Students meet weekly with their teacher for 30, 45, or 60 minutes, depending on age and level. Please arrive on time with all necessary books, materials, and instruments. Parents are welcome to chat briefly with the teacher during the first five minutes of the lesson to discuss progress—but not afterward—to ensure the next student starts on time.
If you arrive late, the lesson will still end at the scheduled time so we can respect the next student’s slot.
Tuition and Payment
30 minutes: $140/month
45 minutes: $210/month
60 minutes: $280/month
Tuition is due at the first lesson of each month. If joining mid-month, tuition will be prorated. A $15 late fee will be applied for payments made after the 2nd lesson of the month.
Tuition remains the same in months with 5 lessons—this extra lesson serves as a built-in make-up for months with fewer lessons due to holidays.
Payment may be made online, in cash, or by check payable to your teacher.
Missed Lessons Missed lessons are not rescheduled, refunded, or credited to another month. However, when scheduling permits, your teacher may offer a make-up lesson or an alternative option as a courtesy. While we cannot guarantee make-up lessons, we will always do our best to accommodate families whenever possible while respecting our teachers’ schedules and commitments. Each student receives 48 lessons annually.
Discontinuing Lessons
Every student eventually moves on, and we hope to make that transition positive and smooth. Please provide 30 days’ notice (or payment in lieu) before ending lessons. In some cases, a teacher may recommend stopping lessons if tuition is unpaid, there are repeated unprepared lessons, or if the student shows a lack of interest.
To reserve your time slot while taking a break, full monthly tuition is required for each month you wish to hold the spot.
Parental Support
A good home practice routine is key to success! Please provide a quality instrument and a quiet space for daily practice. Parents are welcome at any lesson to better support their child at home. Feel free to ask your teacher for specific practice tips.
Communication
The best way to contact your teacher is by email or text, with replies within 24 hours. Please keep calls and texts between 8:00 AM–8:00 PM on weekdays; emails are welcome anytime.
